Gearbox Repair & Rebuild

Whether you are experiencing a persistent whining noise, difficulty changing gears, or a sudden loss of drive, we can investigate the issue and explain your repair options.

Gearbox Fault Diagnosis

Accurately diagnosing the issue is the first step. We assess the symptoms and inspect the relevant mechanical and electronic systems to identify the source of the fault before recommending any work.

Manual Gearbox Repair

Bearing, Gear and Synchromesh Faults

Worn bearings, damaged gears, and synchromesh issues may cause noise, grinding, or difficulty shifting gears. We assess these faults, along with related clutch and selector issues, to determine which components require attention.

Component Replacement or Full Strip Down

Depending on the extent of the damage, the work may involve replacing individual components or dismantling and rebuilding the gearbox. An internal inspection enables us to assess wear, identify any additional damage, and determine the scope of the repair.

Automatic and Dual Clutch Gearbox Repair

DSG and S tronic Transmissions

We service conventional automatic gearboxes and dual-clutch transmissions, including DSG and Audi S tronic systems. Common issues include juddering, slipping, harsh gear changes, delayed engagement, and gearbox warning messages.

Valve Body, Mechatronic and Wiring Faults

Automatic transmission faults may involve mechanical components, hydraulic controls, or electronic systems. Our diagnostic expertise enables us to investigate these systems and determine whether the issue lies within the gearbox internals, valve body, mechatronics, or associated wiring and controls.

Gearbox Rebuilds

A rebuild entails dismantling the gearbox, cleaning and inspecting its internal components, and replacing any worn or damaged parts before reassembly. The work required depends on the unit’s condition, with due consideration given to both the cause of the failure and the resulting damage.

Strip Down Inspection and Approval

If a strip down is required to properly assess the gearbox, we will discuss this with you beforehand. We will explain our findings, the recommended work, and the associated costs to enable you to make an informed decision.
